Creating a Showreel

Showreel Research

Editing of First Draft

For the first draft of my showreel I decided that the vest way to show the process was to make a time-lapse. I made it using an editing app on my phone since this was the easiest way to make a simple draft. For this draft I just roughly put together all the clips I wanted to see how they would look together.

First Draft

The first draft is very rough and simple since it was juts to get an idea of what clips to put in and what order would work best. For my second draft I want to try out different transitions and add in an intro and an outro with my logo on them.

Editing of Second Draft

I started this draft off by editing on my laptop instead of my phone but unfortunately my laptop kept deleting the files so I had to edit it on my phone again. Although unfortunate it was a good opportunity to show that it's possible to do work like this even on a phone.

Although unfortunate it was a good opportunity to show that it's possible to do work like this even on a phone. After this I decided to screen record the process of editing my second draft.

I first put all the clips and photos I wanted to use in the editing app in the order I wanted. I then went through and changed the timing of the photos so they would all be on screen but when watching it through I realised this was too short of a time and they couldn't be seen properly so I changed it to 1.5 seconds which was a more suitable amount of time. After this I adjusted the length of the clips, since my laptop wasn't working well I couldn't access the files from my SD card and so I had to get the clips from the videos that I had previously uploaded to YouTube. Once I had done that I went through copyright free music and chose the one that I liked the most and felt fit well and added it to the video.

Feedback

After completing my second draft I sent it to some people to get feedback on what I did well and if there are any improvements I can make. I got compliments on my photography which I appreciate very much and in terms of what I can do better there are concerns that the pictures aren't left on the screen for long enough which is a concern I previously had. To fix this I will lengthen the clips to create my final draft.

Final Draft
For my final draft I extended the length of the pictures so they show for 2 seconds each.
